The Lane-McDuff Story

he combination of reasonably priced products with knowledgeable, courteous personnel has enabled Lane-McDuff to be a major player in the Manufactured Housing industry for thirty years. The company motto, “Service Comes First” reaffirms the commitment that the cofounders, George Lane and Frank McDuff, made three decades ago to provide the finest service possible and highest quality products to you, our customer. Cofounders, George Lane and Frank McDuff, met through a meeting arranged by George’s wife Aletia, who was working at the time with Frank McDuff’s wife. From this initial meeting began the Lane- McDuff Sales Company. The newly established business combined George Lane’s knowledge of the L.P. Gas industry and Frank McDuff’s knowledge of recreational vehicles and mobile home parts.

They began doing business out of a small, obscure 2,000 square foot building in Hurst, Texas in 1969. The company was an immediate success with providing the customer a one stop source for manufactured home, recreational vehicle and LP Gas parts and supplies.

Prior to their initial meeting Frank McDuff worked for S.H. Leggitt Company for several years covering North and West Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Frank attended both Texas Christian University and the University of Texas.

George Lane at the time covered the southwestern territory for Sprague LPG before establishing his own business and becoming a Sprague distributor. Lane is a noted authority on LPG installations for mobile homes, travel campers and general recreational vehicles.

Early on deliveries were made in an orange 1965 Ford van, driven by John Reid, a student working in the afternoons. Over the course of the next nine years, the company outgrew its facilities. In the latter part of 1978, George and Frank purchased three acres located on the corner of Carson Street and Airport Freeway (HW 121) in Haltom City, TX. Construction then began on the present 20,000 square foot building in early 1979. The company moved into the current corporate offices on Easter weekend of that year.

Today the company has grown to 8 locations stretching from the East in Bossier City, LA. to the desert Southwest in Albuquerque, NM. Lane-McDuff President, George Lane credits the company’s success to our customers. Today Lane-McDuff’s main focus is on the manufactured housing and LP Gas industries. The recreational vehicle supply business was phased out in 1987. The company today employees 64 people in three states.
